Catford, like other city suburbs, is a good environment for bees. The gardens, allotments and streets are lined with trees giving bees a range of flowers to forage from across the year.
Catford Honey bees are kept locally by Ian Stell, a Mater Beekeeper who has kept bees since 1998.
In the UK, honey is usually harvested in June and August. Each year, honey becomes available from the summer onwards.
There is an increasingly high demand for our local honey – we have a Honey Waiting List for customers who want the first batches and it usually sells out quickly. The bees have been busy this year so we still have a few jars left!
